MITCHELL JOHNSON

Mitchell Johnson is the Head Coach of the San Antonio Spurs. On May 2, 2025, Johnson became the 19th Head Coach* in Spurs’ history.
Prior to becoming the Head Coach of the San Antonio Spurs, Coach Johnson served as an Assistant Coach for the Austin Spurs (2016-2019) where he helped lead them to a G League Championship in 2018. Coach Johnson later became an Assistant Coach for the San Antonio Spurs, under Head Coach Gregg Popovich (2019-2025) where he helped lead the team to a 2019 playoff appearance.
Mitchell Johnson was born on November 29, 1986, in Seattle, Washington. Johnson attended O’Dea High School in Seattle, Washington and went on to play at Stanford University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in sociology. Johnson had a three-year professional playing career, with stops in the NBA G League and in Europe including Germany and Belgium.
