Great work by the Dallas Morning News Editorial in conveying Dallas Mavericks Head Coach Rick Carlisle’s commitment to making meaningful and impactful change for racial justice in the Dallas community – for this long-lasting effort, Coach Carlisle is a finalist for the ‘2020 Dallas Morning News Texan of the Year.’ In the aftermath of George Floyd’s death, Coach Carlisle partnered with Collette Flanagan, founder of Dallas-based Mothers Against Police Brutality, to continue dialogue around race and justice in America; this is one of the various partnerships NBA Coaches Association President, Rick Carlisle as well as Atlanta Hawks Head Coach Lloyd Pierce have been involved in. Other NBCA involvement includes: The Obama Foundation, The Equal Justice Initiative, and NBA Coaches for Racial Justice.
