In 2025, JJ Barea became an Assistant Coach for the Denver Nuggets. He was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico and attended and played at Northeastern University. Coach Barea went on to play for the Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves, NBA D League, and also played professionally in Puerto Rico, and overseas in Spain.
