In 2023, John Lucas III became an Assistant Coach for the Phoenix Suns. Coach Lucas was born in Washington, D.C. and first played for Baylor University and finished at Oklahoma State University. Lucas had a 12-year professional playing career with stops in Houston, Chicago, Toronto, Utah, Detroit, Minnesota, the NBA D League, as well as overseas in Italy, Spain, China, and Puerto Rico.
