The membership of the National Basketball Coaches Association joins the NBA family in mourning the passing of legendary Head Coach and Hall of Famer, Don Nelson.
Don Nelson coached in the NBA for 31 years, with the Milwaukee Bucks, Golden State Warriors, New York Knicks, and Dallas Mavericks. During his illustrious career, he won over 1,300 games and currently ranks second all-time in wins (1,335) and games coached (2,398). Nellie was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as a coach in 2012, voted both a Top 10 (1997) and Top 15 (2022) Coach in NBA history, and received the NBCA Chuck Daly Lifetime Achievement Award in 2025.
Coach Nelson will be remembered not only as a coach and a player, but also as a mentor to so many in the basketball community. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Nelson family during this difficult time.
