In the wake of losing defensive architect Jeff Bzdelik to sudden retirement, the Rockets are prepared to execute their contingency plan. Moving forward without him, as head coach Mike D’Antoni put it, is “not ideal,” but the team does have solid options to fill the void—primarily assistant coach Roy Rogers.

In a Q&A with Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle, GM Daryl Morey indicated that replacing Bzdelik will be a joint effort, while suggesting that Rogers will lead the charge.
