NEW ORLEANS PELICANS HEAD COACH

Willie Green is the Head Coach of the New Orleans Pelicans. On July 22, 2021, Green became the 8th Head Coach* in Pelicans history.

Prior to joining the Pelicans, Coach Green was an Assistant Coach for the Phoenix Suns under Head Coach Monty Williams (2019-2021), where he helped the team reach the NBA Finals (2021) for the first time since 1993. Prior to joining the Suns, he was an Assistant Coach for the Golden State Warriors under Head Coach Steve Kerr (2016-2019), where he helped the team finish with a regular season record of 67-15 (2017), first in points per game (2017), and winning two consecutive NBA Championships (2017, 2018).

Willie Green was born on July 28, 1981, in Detroit, Michigan. He attended and played for the University of Detroit Mercy, where he won the Horizon League Player of the Year award (2003). Coach Green was selected in the second round by the Seattle SuperSonics in the 2003 NBA Draft, he went on to play for the 76ers, Hornets (currently Pelicans), Hawks, Clippers, and Magic.
