JOE MAZZULLA
BOSTON CELTICS HEAD COACH
Joe Mazzulla is the Boston Celtics Head Coach. On February 16, 2023, Mazzulla became the 19th Head Coach* in Celtics history.
Mazzulla started his coaching career by spending two seasons as an Assistant Coach at Glenville State. In his time with the Pioneers, Mazzulla helped develop two All-WVIAC honorees and a pair of All-Freshman team honorees. Coach then became an Assistant Coach at Fairmont State University for three seasons. After stint as an Assistant Coach with the NBA G League’s Maine Red Claws, Coach then became a Head Coach back at Fairmont State University – in his two seasons as Head Coach at Fairmont State, Coach led his team to an 43-17 (71.6%) overall record, with a trip the Division II NCAA Tournament (2018-2019). Coach then joined the Celtics staff in 2019 as an Assistant Coach and helped led the team to the 2022 NBA Finals.
Joe Mazzulla was born on June 30, 1988, in Johnston, Rhode Island. He attended Bishop Hendricken High School and played for and graduated from West Virginia University. Mazzulla advanced to the NCAA Tournament all four years and was named to the Big East Academic All-Star Team three times. Coach Mazzulla and his wife, Camai, have two children (Michael & Emmanuel).
