In 2019, James Penn became an Assistant Coach for the Memphis Grizzlies. Coach Penn was born in Yonkers, New York and in his first two seasons played for Boston College – in his final two seasons, he played for and graduated from Ohio State University. He was drafted 57^th overall in the 2000 NBA Draft by the Atlanta Hawks, and had an 11-year professional playing career, with stops in the NBA G League, Italy, Serbia, Croatia, Greece, Turkey, and Ukraine.
