NEW YORK KNICKS HEAD COACH
Mike Brown is the Head Coach of the New York Knicks. On July 8, 2025, Brown became the 32nd Head Coach* in Knicks history.
Prior to joining the Knicks, Coach Brown was the Head Coach of the Sacramento Kings (2022-2024), where he led the team to an NBA Playoffs appearance (2023). Prior to joining the Kings, he was an Assistant Coach for the Golden State Warriors under Head Coach Steve Kerr (2016-2022) where he helped the team win three NBA Championships (2017, 2018, 2022). Prior to joining the Warriors, Coach Brown was the Head Coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers for a second stint (2013-2014). Prior to joining the Cavaliers, he was the Head Coach of the Los Angeles Lakers (2011-2013), where he led the team to two NBA Playoff berths. Prior to joining the Lakers, Coach Brown was the Head Coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers (2005-2010), where he led the team to an NBA Finals appearance (2007) and two Eastern Conference Finals appearances (2007 & 2009). Prior to joining the Cavaliers, he was an Assistant Coach of the Indiana Pacers under Head Coach Rick Carlisle (2003-2005), where he helped lead the team to two consecutive Playoff berths and the NBA Conference Finals (2004). He also became an Assistant Coach of the San Antonio Spurs under Head Coach Gregg Popovich (2000-2003), where he helped the team win an NBA Championship (2003). Prior to joining the Spurs, Coach Brown became an Assistant Coach for the Washington Wizards under Head Coach Bernie Bickerstaff (1997-1999), where he helped the team reach a 42-40 regular season record.
Mike Brown was born on March 5, 1970, in Columbus, Ohio. He attended and played at the University of San Diego, where he received a bachelor’s degree in business administration, During Coach Brown’s time at the University of San Diego, he helped the team reach a 17-12 regular season record and place third in the West Coast Conference. In 2020, Coach Brown was named the Head Coach of the Nigerian National Team.
