NATIONAL BASKETBALL COACHES ASSOCIATION
STATEMENT ON THE PASSING OF
COACH DEJAN MILOJEVIĆ
NEW YORK, January 18, 2024 – The membership of the National Basketball Coaches Association joins the NBA family in mourning the passing of Golden State Warriors Assistant Coach, Dejan Milojević. Coach Milojević won an NBA Championship with the Golden State Warriors in 2022 and throughout his coaching career became known as a top developer of big man talent, working with some of the NBA’s top centers. Before joining the Warriors, Milojević was a member of several NBA Summer League coaching staffs, including the Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs, and Atlanta Hawks. Prior to his NBA tenure, Milojević had a decorated international coaching and player career.
Golden State Warriors Head Coach, Steve Kerr, issued the following statement through the Warriors:
“We are absolutely devastated by Dejan’s sudden passing. This is a shocking and tragic blow for everyone associated with the Warriors and an incredibly difficult time for his family, friends, and all of us who had the incredible pleasure to work with him. In addition to being a terrific basketball coach, Dejan was one of the most positive and beautiful human beings I have ever known, someone who brought joy and light to every single day with his passion and energy. We grieve with and for his wife, Natasa, and their children, Nikola and Masa. Their loss is unfathomable.”
NBCA President and Indiana Pacers Head Coach Rick Carlisle issued the following statement:
“An unimaginable loss. The entire coaching profession worldwide mourns the passing of Coach Milojević and sends sincerest condolences to his family.”
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Milojević family and the Warriors organization during this difficult time.
