JORDI FERNANDEZ
BROOKLYN NETS HEAD COACH
Jordi Fernandez is the Head Coach of the Brooklyn Nets. On April 22, 2024, Fernandez became the 25th Head Coach in Nets history.
Prior to joining the Nets, Coach Fernandez was an Assistant Coach with the Sacramento Kings under Head Coach Mike Brown (2022-2024), where he helped the team reach an NBA Playoff berth (2023), making it the first time in 17 seasons that the franchise reached the NBA Playoffs. Prior to joining the Nets, he was an Assistant Coach for the Denver Nuggets under Head Coach Michael Malone (2016-2022), where he helped the team reach four consecutive NBA Playoff berths (2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022). Prior to joining the Nuggets, Coach Fernandez was the Head Coach of the NBA G-League Cleveland Cavaliers affiliate, the Canton Charge (2014-2016), where he led the team to a 32-18 regular season record (2015) and as Assistant Coach for the team under Head Coach Steve Hetzel (2013-2014), where he helped the team reach a NBDL Playoff berth. Prior to joining the Charge, he was a Player Development Coach for the Cleveland Cavaliers under Head Coaches Mike Brown (2009-2010) and Byron Scott (2010-2013), where he helped the team reach two NBA Playoff berths (2009 & 2010) and an NBA Conference Finals appearance (2009).
Jordi Fernandez was born on December 27, 1982, in Badalona, Spain. He attended the University of Barcelona with a degree in sports sciences and went on to study towards a Ph.D. degree in sports psychology. Prior to Coach Fernandez’s NBA coaching career, he was a Player Development Coach of the Impact Basketball Academy (2006-2009). He was also Assistant Coach for Spain’s U19 Men’s National Team (2013), Assistant Coach for the Spanish National Team (2017-2019), Assistant Coach for the Nigerian National Team (2020), and was the Head Coach of the Canadian National Team (2024-2025).
