NEW ORLEANS PELICANS HEAD COACH

Willie Green is the Head Coach of the New Orleans Pelicans. On July 14, 2021, Green became the 8th Head Coach* in Pelicans history.

Before the Pelicans, Coach Green was an Assistant Coach for the Phoenix Suns (2019-2021), and Golden State Warriors (2016-2019). In the 2020-2021 NBA season, Coach Green helped the Suns reach the NBA Finals for the first time since 1993. Coach Green helped the Warriors win back-to-back NBA Championships (2017 & 2018). In the 2016-2017 NBA Season, Coach Green and the Golden State Warriors coaching staff finished with a regular season record of 67-15, leading to a league best, 1st in offensive rating and 1st in points per game.

Willie Green was born on July 28, 1981, in Detroit, Michigan. Green attended Cooley High School and later attended the University of Detroit Mercy. Green played all four years at the University of Detroit Mercy then was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2003 NBA Draft, by the Seattle SuperSonics, subsequently being traded to the 76ers. Green played seven seasons in Philadelphia and in the 76ers’ last game of the 2006-07 season, Green scored his career high at 37 points. Green totaled 12 playing seasons (76ers, Hornets, Hawks, Clippers, & Magic) in the NBA. Coach Green and his wife, Terrah, have three children (Ross, Aaliyah, & Mason).
